Sales Representative
GENERAL
The Sales Representative is responsible for identifying and qualifying opportunities, responding to pre-bid inquires, developing and delivering proposals, closing sales of products in the diagnostic imaging markets primarily, and the radiation therapy markets secondarily. The Sales representative is responsible for a Western Territory, but this position also holds the potential for establishing national accounts.
Based in Southern California, the Representative works inside 50% of the time and travels the remainder. Potential or existing customers and key influencers include:
- Hospitals and Free standing medical centers
- Medical Equipment manufacturers
- Regional general contractors specializing in medical facilities and national corporate medical facilities.
- Specialty sub-contractors
- Architects and Physicists
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cold calling and developing potential customer lists
- Representing NELCO products face-to-face with customers
- Reviewing estimates created for the sales quotation step
- Preparing and closing sales agreements
- Representing NELCO at technical meetings
- Soliciting and delivering presentations for NELCO and others at national, corporate, medical facilities and equipment manufacturers
- Developing relationships for NELCO with key influencers, including but not limited to, architectural firms, consulting physicist groups, and medical equipment manufacturers
QUALIFICATIONS
- Thorough understanding of basic sales principles and practices; high comfort level with direct sales as well as phone sales; ability to assess customers quickly, to ascertain their needs rapidly, and to tailor sales calls to those needs
- Fundamental understanding of the architectural process
- Familiarity with CAL-OSHA standards
- Adeptness at reading blueprints and estimates
- Stellar oral and written communication skills, the latter especially to organize and craft sales presentations and proposals
- Skill at developing qualified contacts, and following up effectively after presentations
- 2 - 5 years’ sales experience (related to the medical, construction, or shielding industry is a plus)
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time
- Competency in the use of Microsoft applications software
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a business concentration
- Fluency in Spanish a strong plus

ESTIMATOR

The Estimator is responsible for assessing projects for our Corporate Sales Group. This includes all conceptual, negotiated, and hard bid estimates. The position requires interfacing with NELCO project managers, manufacturing divisions and third party vendors as well as interacting directly with clients.
Responsibilities:
- Establish unit pricing for conceptual estimating
- Establish estimating library and database history
- Prepare estimate turnover to the sales group and project managers
- Prepare all material and labor estimates for NELCO self-performed work for Radiation Therapy Shielding products, Radio Frequency Shielding products, and Diagnostics Shielding products
- Assist project managers with scopes of work
- Keep subcontractor list up-to-date
- Complete estimate start-up checklist
- Process owner's bid form
- Review insurance and project requirements with the administrative team for compliance
- Archive past bids
- Other duties may be assigned
Skills / Qualifications / Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following:
- Intermediate to advanced level in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Beginner to intermediate level in Master Builder Construction software or equivalent construction software for estimating
- Intermediate level understanding of digital images (how to open, view, customize and print images)
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility and the ability to prioritize work assignments
- Extreme attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Availability to work extended hours as required by project schedules or urgent circumstances
- Strong ambition to succeed
- Interact effectively with all company employees as well as outside associates
Required Education / Experience: Must have a minimum of a bachelors’ degree in a construction discipline and a minimum of 2 to 5 years experience in the construction industry in an estimating capacity.
