“The LAC+USC Medical Center Replacement Project was definitely a large and complex shielding project, and its success could not have been achieved without the participation of NELCO. NELCO was a very professional company and we look forward to future opportunities to work together as a team.”

Description:

NELCO’s high density concrete block is designed for new construction or shielding upgrades for linear accelerators, H.D.R. rooms, and all therapeutic modalities requiring shielding materials. The block is manufactured in a standard size with three densities available to accommodate different physics requirements. For gamma radiation, higher density blocks (incorporating a larger concentration of steel aggregate) are more commonly utilized. For maximization of neutron shielding, lower density units are a viable solution.

H.D. block is manufactured in an “N” interlocking design. It can be utilized for maze walls, vault walls or vault ceilings, with or without mortar (for modularity), depending on physics requirements and construction design. Ceilings are generally supported by an independent steel support structure.

All NELCO H.D. concrete block is manufactured under strict NELCO quality guidelines.
